Lemar Systems Ltd makes Tantastic. This is a comparison of published features, not an independent hands-on test or a ranking of health outcomes. Product listings were checked on 22 October 2026; features and offers can change.

Start with how you want to use photos
Decide whether you want a place to save your own comparison photos, a scanning workflow, or neither. These are different reasons to use a progress feature.
In Tantastic, photos are optional and stay in the app’s private storage on your device. You can use the app without a Tantastic account. If a photo timeline is important to you, check how to remove a photo, what happens after deleting the app, and whether your device backups include it.
What to check in Glowy
Glowy’s listing emphasises skin scanning alongside UV and tracking. Look at that workflow if scanning is a feature you specifically want.
Read its privacy label as well as the description of any individual photo feature. Check the subscription requirements on the screen you see, rather than assuming a free download includes ongoing access to everything.
Pick a timer you understand
Think through an ordinary session. Would you prefer explicit phase prompts, or do you mainly need a single timer? Do you want a record afterwards, or are you only using the app for today’s forecast?
Tantastic’s front, back and shade phases are designed to make its session structure visible. This comparison does not claim that one app produces a better tan or prevents skin damage.
Which should you choose?
Consider Tantastic for a guided session flow and optional private timeline. Investigate Glowy if its scanning approach is the feature that interests you. Check both apps’ current purchase terms before subscribing.
For more choices, see alternatives to Glowy. If you only need a forecast, our UV app guide includes simpler options.
